Friends, I’m super excited to share information with you about my next book project. Daily Calvinism: A 30-day Devotional Connecting the Doctrines of Grace with Everyday Life will release on July 1st! I am self-publishing through Amazon (certainly not by choice, but that’s another topic!), so there will be no pre-order, but I will send out another post on the release date to make sure you all know it’s available for purchase. Below are details regarding the foreword and who endorse.
Also, you might be wondering: I’m not a Calvinist, so this doesn’t apply to me. I understand, but please know that this is not a devotional that beats you over the head with Calvinism, but is simply a devotional from a Calvinistic perspective. It doesn’t explain what Calvinism is—though there are quotes at each section—but explains what Calvinism should do in our lives. It shows that the doctrines of grace have practical implications for Christian living. There are devotionals over anxiety, fighting sin, pursing holiness, and so much more practical information.
I am thankful to have
write the foreword (his writing is far better than mine!). Below are the endorsements in full.“Reformed theologians such as John Calvin first articulated the doctrines of grace in the wake of the Reformation, when the Holy Spirit reoriented Christ’s sheep toward Scripture-centered, God-centered, and gospel-centered theology. Unlike medieval Roman Catholicism, which largely cloistered piety and theology behind monastery walls, Reformation theology emphasized the implications of doctrine for the believer’s daily life, whether in the home, the church, or society. In this daily devotional, brother Long captures this practical thrust of the Reformation tradition in general and the Reformed tradition in particular, considering how the doctrines of grace shape how we can fight sin, ponder death, overcome fear and anxiety, pursue holiness, disciple others, grow in humility, and endure tribulation. Here is practical, experiential theology on the glorious doctrines of grace, which, contrary to common perception, are not Calvin’s invention but are simply a crystallization of what is in fact biblical soteriology. May the Lord richly bless each of these devotionals to your soul!”
Dr. Joel R. Beeke, Chancellor and Professor of Systematic Theology and Homiletics, Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary, and pastor of Heritage Reformed Congregation, Grand Rapids, Michigan
“A ‘no holes barred’ approach to making Calvinism devotional. And the attempt is both successful and inspiring. Thirty days to get your mind and your heart to where they need to be—in love with the truth of God’s Word. Blake Long will both challenge you and convict you as he explains Reformed theology that will grip your soul and help you understand the truth of the Bible. Get ready to be challenged.”
Derek W. H. Thomas, Teaching Fellow, Ligonier Ministries, and Chancellor’s Professor, Reformed Theological Seminary
“A warm, sweet, accessible devotional that flows from deep gospel truths. Anyone who reads this book as part of their devotionals will be edified in doing so. The doctrines of grace never fail to feed the souls of the saints.”
Sean DeMars, Pastor, 6th Ave. Community Church in Decatur, AL, author of Rebel to Your Will, and host of the Room for Nuance podcast
“This is a wonderful devotional work that not only teaches the glorious doctrines of grace, but shows how they strengthen the believer’s faith, promote life in Christ, and experiential godliness. The doctrines commonly called ‘Calvinism’ are not points of bitter debate, as they are sometimes used; rather they are living truths for humble and reverential worship.”
Dr. Tom Hicks, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Clinton, LA, serves on the board of director of Covenant Baptist Theological Seminary, and is an adjunct professor at CBTS and International Reformed Baptist Seminary
“Doctrine is intensely practical. Often though, we need help understanding how doctrine applies to life. I love what Blake Long has done in this book. He explains the doctrines of grace and then shows how they should change our lives. Let the teaching of this devotional lead you to a deeper understanding and let it comfort you, challenge you, and cause you to worship.”
Darryl Dash, pastor of Grace Fellowship Church East Toronto, and author of 8 Habits for Growth
“I wish I had this book in my early twenties. I understood the doctrines of grace in my mind, but their beauty and glory had not yet reached my heart or shaped my daily life. Daily Calvinism is warm, theologically rich, and pastorally wise—deeply rooted in doctrine yet profoundly practical. This devotional draws you into the heart of God, the lives of His people, and the transforming power of true, biblical Calvinism.”
Chrys Jones, pastor of Little Zion Baptist Church, staff writer at Gospel-Centered Discipleship, Christian hip-hop artist, and host of the Dwell with Christ blog and YouTube channel
May every word in this book be received to the glory of God!
Those are fantastic endorsements! Congratulations!
