Random Thoughts on Creation
God created the universe in six literal 24-hour days. The Bible is clear about that on multiple fronts. Whether you look into the Hebrew word yom, or the wording of “morning and evening” used in Genesis, or others, I don’t think the Bible is as vague as some claim it is.
God created the universe to look old, just like he created Adam to be a grown adult but had only been one day old. No one denies the universe looks old; we simply deny it’s actually billions of years old.
Some Christians believe in theistic evolution, which is the idea that God superintended the process of evolution to create the universe. There are many problems with that, but it’s simply not a salvific issue. It can lead to bigger problems and is absolutely a slippery slope, but one can believe that and be a Christian.
But let me say this: evolution is satanic. It’s an attempt to overthrow God’s reign and rule.
Humans are the pinnacle of God’s creation. Animals are not on the same level as humans. Should we treat animals with respect and not abuse them? Absolutely. But may we confront the evolutionary ideas that claim humans and animals are the same.
Many—if not most—animal rights activists have no problem with the idea of killing babies in the womb, but cry wolf over the ill treatment of pigs. What gives? Humans matter more than animals. (Not advocating for animal abuse, but pointing out the hypocrisy.)
God gave humans dominion over animals, but, of course, sin has affected that. We are in charge of animals, not on equal footing.
God’s creation, before the fall of man, was “very good.” In the end, God’s going to restore all things and we will live with him in a new earth.
