The Dragon Slayer
What’s bogging you down this morning, Christian? Is there something that’s nagging you, that’s getting at you and you can’t stop thinking about it? What is going on in your life that is causing anxiety and fear and dread to rise up in your heart?
Let me introduce you to the dragon slayer.
In his latest single, Shai Linne raps:
Israel’s answered prayer, the ransom-payer; Whose stats are greater than Jesus Christ, the Dragon-Slayer?
Jesus Christ is the dragon slayer, the one who defeated Satan—the dragon—on the cross of Calvary (Gen. 3:15). What does this have to do with your anxiety and fear and dread?
It’s easy for Satan or his demons to affect you—all of us. It’s easy to feel like sometimes he has power over you. But fear not, believer, the dragon has been slayed. We don’t have to be riddled with anxiety; we don’t have to be driven to despair and feel hopeless. Satan will do anything in his power to make you doubt the goodness of God, and anxiety is one way to do that. (I’m not saying Satan is the sole cause of our anxiety, but spiritual warfare can be a contributing factor at times.)
Jesus being the dragon slayer applies to far more than anxiety, of course. We can live as Christians, walking with Jesus, knowing we can withstand the accusations and temptation of the devil because we are in union with the one who slayed the dragon. Who can be against us?
Friends, remember the dragon slayer today as you walk with Jesus.
